Hello again Sally's mom! Thank you for all your comments!
I don't think you need to worry about Sally's reading. Sally is very smart and will learn quickly. Also, children develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a foreign language at different rates of time. For example, some students may develop their reading and writing skills faster than their listening and speaking skills. But other students, such as Sally, may develop their listening and speaking skills faster than their reading and writing skills. Sally's listening and speaking skills in English are FANTASTIC! She has GREATLY improved over this last year! It is AMAZING to see! I also think it is especially good for Sally to have greatly improved in her listening and speaking skills in English to help her overcome her shyness. She is not shy about speaking in class anymore! Thank you for all your efforts in helping Sally learn English at home through reading English books, watching English movies, and speaking English with her. It helps A LOT and we can see her progress!
The art classes are going well. We all really enjoy the new science and art kits. The younger caterpillar group has almost completed their math book for this school year. Mrs. Christina usually teaches the older caterpillar math group (the group that Sally is a part of), so I am not sure how far along they are in their book. Sally has joined the younger math group just for the month of January. So, I am sure it is an easy review for her.
Well, thank you again for all your wonderful comments. You are so encouraging! Teachers love to have parents like you! And, I have really enjoyed getting to know Sally this year. She is a really sweet, sensitive, and intelligent girl! I was just thinking today that it is so AWESOME that many of us share the same faith in Christ because even though I may only get to spend a year or two with my students in school, I get to spend all of eternity with them in heaven! :)
God bless,
Corinna
Hello Sally’s mom!
Thank you again for your long and encouraging letter! I’m so sorry it takes me so long to write back! Yes, it’s getting colder. I am doing fine. Thankfully, I have never been sick in South Korea yet, so I hope and pray I continue to have good health.
Yes, I really liked the red-ripe persimmon. And, yes, that was the first time I had eaten one and I did go buy a whole basket after you gave me that one! I told Sally it looked like a tomato, had the texture of a mango, and tasted a little like a pumpkin! HAHAHA! But, it was really good! THANK YOU!
That is SOOO SWEET of Sally to be so concerned about my Thanksgiving dinner with my family! I told the class on Friday that it was o.k. that I am not able to have Thanksgiving dinner with my family because I am going to have a Thanksgiving dinner with my church family in Seoul. They are having a Thanksgiving dinner that is hosted by the U.S. Military. I went last year and it was really amazing. I also told the class that many current and former teachers from ANCA will be going to the same Thanksgiving dinner at church, such as Miss. Angela (the preschool teacher last year), Mr. Jonathan, Mr. Jacob, Miss. Ella, Miss. Jocelyn, etc. So, I am very happy! Sally is so thoughtful and caring. Mrs. Christina and I are also amazed at how much she understands in English. We said that we are going to have to be careful what we say in English during class now! HAHAHA!
Christina said she talked with you about the book “Chicken Little”. She can order it for you if you want to buy it. It would be really great if you could buy the book that we will use for the Christmas play. We are still deciding on what book to use.
That is o.k. that Sally doesn’t want to let others borrow her book titled “100 Bible Heroes”. I am glad she cherishes that book so much. I am hesitant to let others borrow things that I cherish also!
Yes, the space theme last year was really fun! I really enjoyed that also. I don’t mind doing it again this year. But, it may be too much to try and recreate the classroom for every science theme. We really like the new science kits. They provide so many hands-on activities for the kids. The children are always so excited to do them. So, we will plan on continuing with them.
I hope you saw the November lesson plans, parent letter, and songs that I uploaded to the website. I haven’t posted any new photos yet, even though I literally have hundreds of photos! However, Christina has uploaded some new photos to the website. At the end of the year, we always provide a DVD copy of all of the preschool photos we have taken for each parent. So, no need to worry…you will get them!
It’s funny that Sally even told you about my new cat! She is a stray cat that kept coming to my door to be fed and petted. She now has become my cat! HAHA! She is often waiting for me at my door when I come home from school. Now I am not sure if she is pregnant or not. Maybe she is just getting fat from all the food I give her! I should try and take her to the vet soon to be sure!
Well, thank you again for all your emails. It’s wonderful to see parents that are so involved and interested in their child’s lives and education.
Have a nice Sunday! God bless!
Corinna
Hello Sally’s mom!
Thank you so much for your last message. I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond back to you. I have been very busy lately.
Yes, I told Sally some of the things you wrote on the website. I am glad she was happy about it.
Wow…I can’t believe it took Sally 4 hours to pack her “Show-and-Tell” bag! The funny thing is…I had just said to Mrs. Christina that “Sally is a perfectionist” right before receiving your email! So, we were both thinking the same thing! I think being a perfectionist can be mostly a good thing. It shows that she is really careful and gives a lot of thought and attention to what she is doing. However, I have heard that sometimes our greatest strength can be our greatest weakness at times.
I am sorry to hear that Sally didn’t think I loved her because I haven’t been giving her a lot of hugs lately! I actually feel like I give the children too many hugs sometimes (if that’s possible) because in the United States in the public schools, we have to be very careful and are told not to hug or touch the children a lot. Isn’t that sad??? But, unfortunately, that is the world we live in. I enjoy working at a Christian school where we are allowed and encouraged to hug the children! I will try and remember to give Sally extra hugs! Of course Mrs. Christina and I both love all the children and I am trying to learn to love them more!
I didn’t ask Sally why she brought the book “100 Bible Heroes” to school because I didn’t read your email until afterwards. However, I did ask Sally if I could borrow the book and she said, “No.” Hahahahaha! J
Thank you for the suggestion to upload the photos and documents into the ANCA Preschool section. I will try that next time.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
God bless!
Corinna
Thank you so much “Sally’s mom” for the long and heart-felt message! I really appreciate it! I am glad you are enjoying the website and finding it useful. I had originally put all the photos and documents into separate folder albums. But, when I finished, I realized that only I could see the separate folder albums and all the photos and documents were put together. So, I am sorry it is not easier to sort through all the photos and documents. I am amazed at what Sally remembers and what she is doing with you at home! Sometimes I wonder how much the children are listening and remembering in class. That’s wonderful that Sally is singing the “Five Little Pumpkins” song to you at home. And, that she is even adding her own words to it! And, yes, I did tell her that it was one of my favorite songs as a child! Thank you for sharing your child with us and allowing us to teach her! She is a real joy! By the way, I didn’t know your English was so good! Sally is fortunate to have parents that can help her with her English! Have a great day! God bless!
