Discipline. Passion. Excellence.
Joseph presided (He was absent on the 20th because of the death of a friend)
1. Today is Diana Steele's last day to teach because she will be operated on Thursday for a precancerous condition. Let's pray for her rapid recovery. Alicia, our summer intern from the States, will substitute for her in Kindergarten.
2. We'll have a farewell event at the end of the semester on July 15 for teachers who're leaving.
3. Joseph is preparing a special program to generate income by inviting parents to attend. Severance pay for 4, maybe 5, teachers is a big burden in addition to all the regular expenses. Please pray for more students. We rely a lot on Leadership School to generate income.
4. Ten parents attended the event to promote first grade. If they all enroll their children, we can cover the severance pay with no problem.
5. ANCA's reputation is better than other schools in the area because of our dedicated, united teachers. Even non-Christian parents see our value & send their children here. And a family in far-away Boondang is enrolling their children here.
6. We hope to have at least 50 campers for August ESL camp. Pray for more students.
7. We'll use Bob Jones curriculum for the coming school year.
Note: At least 6 teachers from the States have applied to teach in the August camp, but the cost of their air fares is high--maybe $2,000 round trip per teacher, so we can't afford to invite them unless many more students enroll.
I said I would help teach them. I did not say I would be the sole one to teach them.

1. Two new teachers, Grace and Alicia, arrived last week to help teach ESL, preschool, etc., for three months. Grace will stay with Joseph In's family and Alicia will home school the children of her host family in return for home stay in order to fulfill her ESL practicum toward a bachelor's degree at Simpson University. Grace is the daughter of a Korean American pastor in Dallas and has come to Korea to help with ESL camps at ANCA and another international school.
2. Teachers should be preparing students for the Stanford achievement tests next week.
3. If students have finished with their course work, we can cut the number of days for International School short and end by the first of July. Usually we require more school days than do American schools because English is a second language here and students need more time to learn.
4. Joseph will turn over the school management to the Board of Directors soon. If we are faithful to the end, God will honor it. And I hope that you, too, will successfully complete your term here. Let me know if you need recommendation and/or release letters.
5. Don't let children play outside of school grounds because of snakes, etc. In the past a student played with a poisonous snake because she thought it was harmless, having seen it on TV.
6. Give extra attention to slow students. Some of them and their parents worry that they might fail.
umm....let me correct that.
I'm going to mission trip to Inner Mongolia this summer with the mission team in Sarang Church in Gangnam, they are called STEM (Sarang Teenager English Ministry) and no, my father is not going to mission trip; only I am.
Teachers Meeting 5-23-11
1. The future board of directors at their meeting on Saturday decided to operate ANCA under a new name, His Kingdom International, this will be a mission agency directed by Dr. Chang, Seong-Gee (a dentist) and his wife as a board member. Joseph will be on the board which will control ANCA.
2. At the end of June, the new mission and board will be officially announced to the Korean church and inaugurated in Seoul at a service at Seong Dong Church in Myeong Dong. At that time Dr. Eshenaur will be honored for her 27 years of mission service in Korea, including 7 years founding and developing ANCA. Let's pray that the dedication of those who've developed ANCA will be like a mustard seed that will grow into a great outreach for the gospel. Joseph will not ask the board for financial support because he will earn income by teaching at universities. This is the second time that he has turned over a ministry that he helped to establish and develop. The first time was the International Language Center in Mongolia.
3. His Kingdom International will also serve as a sending body with branches, such as sending medical doctors to the mission fields.
4. If the board decides that All Nations Community Church should no longer share the school building with ANCA, ANCC will have to move off the premises.
5. Two volunteers, Grace from Baylor Univ. in Texas and Alicia from Simpson University in California, will arrive next week, D.V., to help with preschool and ESL classes.
6. Joseph will meet with each teacher to check their progress in completing the semester's academic work. His blood pressure is almost 200, so he needs prayer to overcome stress.
7. We appreciate your support in finances and prayer for our student, Mike, to go with his father to Inner Mongolia, China, for two weeks with Interserve. Interserve is conducting a conference this week in Incheon with missionaries from 160 countries participating.
5. ANCA's students are growing in every way and being transformed by their teachers' spiritual, moral, and academic dedication to their calling here.
6. We'll have a picnic on Friday if it doesn't rain.

Note: Why do MKs need special tuition discounts? One of the reasons is that other international schools in Korea, such as Gloville, which began in 2007 (three years after ANCA was founded in 2004), now has 400 students, but it requires W10 million tuition per year plus W10 million "donation" to the school. So less than 5% of the students are MKs. The school looses more than W10 million when it admits an MK who doesn't pay tuition. Many schools in Korea, some of which were started by missionaries to educate MKs but have now become profitable international schools often catering to the upper class, claim that they help MKs, but actually they don't.
So how can ANCA help MKs? We do it through our Leadership School which supplements the revenue from the International School with revenue from the after school program which has 60 students. This makes it possible for us to give needy MKs 70% to 100% discounts on tuition. ANCA is the only school in Korea focused primarily on the education of MKs.
1. All teachers & administrators are required to attend Fri. chapel and new teachers will be required to attend Sunday English worship.
2. ANCA is now a member of 7- Star Academy which will help us serve missionary students on the mission fields as in Korea.
3. I met with potential board members last week. I'll suggest that they enable us to establish a Cafe here for parents, students, teachers, etc.
4. Dr. Ham, who established Comotes Hillside Academy (grades 1-10), Cebu, Philippines, through the inspiration of Dr. Eshenaur, suggested that I visit there to develop our partnership. The academy is fully accredited by the Philippine government, so we might exchange secondary students and send a teacher there for a semester or for a year.
5. The main reasons for a Board of Directors are to solve the financial situation and to retain good teachers by providing financial stability. Several doctors from Severance Hosp. (Established by missionaries, it claims to be the leading hospital in Asia.), Interserve Intl. and others are interested.
6. Joseph thanks teachers for their hard work which is indicated in students' academic and character development.
7. Missionaries in Mongolia, China, Kyrgistan, etc., are inquiring about sending their children here for the coming year beginning in Aug..

1. All Nations Community Church provided a water pump and connection to city water which cost W5,000,000. We appreciate this provision for the church & school.
2. The prospective board members have been meeting to finalize plans for the board of director's rules, purpose, objectives, etc. The new board will be established by the end of June, D.V. At that time, the board will decide whether or not Joseph (In, Se-Jin) will continue as principal or be asked to resign to make way for someone else. Pray that Joseph will be very strong under the intense pressure of running the school as it faces complex financial & other issues. He meets on Sun. evenings with missionaries for prayer and Bible study which greatly encourages him. He believes that the Lord will provide finances, teachers, etc., because this ministry is so unique in Korea for the Kingdom of God.
3. Missionaries from many countries are inquiring for the coming school year about enrolling their children in ANCA. Some children wouldn't be admitted to other schools because parents' couldn't afford the tuition.
4. Teachers will be paid more regularly after June when the board assumes financial responsibility.
5. Current teachers are invited to extend their contracts for another year if the wish.
6. Pray that we may be able to use another facility that's better situated and endowed.
7. We may need a professional counselor to deal with behavior issues of some TCK children.
8. We appreciate the genuine love and concern that teachers show for our students. So they are maturing nicely and both the students and their parents are deeply grateful.

1. ANCA will adopt the 7-Star (on-line) Academy for secondary classes initially. This will help MKs on mission fields where they're unable to study in secondary schools. Hee Seong, 12th grade, will be our first student. Even though he lives in Korea, he's too far from ANCA to commute every day.
2. Teacher Jonathan is in charge of the picnic to be help May 20th at Ok Cheon or Karison Park.
3. A policy for students to wear the school uniform (jackets) will be enforced in Sept.

1. Yesterday we had a wonderful Easter service. Let's emphasize unity by all worshipping together on Sundays.
2. Please submit your teaching plan before Monday each week.
3. Every Sunday evening I meet with missionaries for prayer. We've been studying about the role of the father in the family. Sadly the son of a fine missionary couple not related to ANCA committed suicide. To better fuflill my role, I'm meeting with my son for QT each morning. Let us be careful with how we rear our children.
4. I'm developing a better academic evaluation system because some children can't be promoted because of poor grades.
5. I plan to adopt the 7 Start Academy on line program for our secondary students.
6. We are trying to recruit teachers for grades 1-6 beginning next semester in August.
7. We have two more applicants for 7th & 12th grade International School. The policy is that ANCA requires parents to attend ANC Church or another church regularly in order to enroll a students. After some discussion, it was suggested that a contract be made with the students & parents that if he or she violates the school rules several times, he or she is out. Also students wilth behavior problems should have regular appointments with the chaplain for counseling & admonition.

1. Joseph met with several prospective members of ANCA's board of directors yesterday. They have expressed keen interest in further developing ANCA as a school for Missionary Kids.
2. When Joseph turns over-all the management of the school to the Board of Directors, he and others who have contributed financially toward the development of the school will give up their rights to financial reimbursement but not their roles in leading the school on a day to day basis.
3. Joseph and the staff will work together with the board to register ANCA as an International School in Korea.
4. The vehicle currently being used by Mr. Min to bus students will be used by teachers from now on for commuting, etc., until funds are available to repair the yellow bus.
5. David Kim, MK from Kyrgystan, appreciates the personal attention he receives here from teachers.
6. Teachers should make weekly plans for children to clean the classrooms. This is mandatory in the Korean public schools and teaches children responsibility and cooperation.
7. All teachers should attend Friday chapel.
8. The school environment is improving, being more stable and positive. Pray for God's wisdom during this time of transition to a board of directors. Mature leaders are needed.
9. Teachers should post lesson outlines on ancakorea.com.
Note: Jonathan isn't teaching any college prep TOEFL classes.
